What I immediately liked about Cloudways was how quick and intuitive everything felt. Right from the start, I was impressed with the ease of use: the dashboard made setting up the site simple, and as I added content and plugins, the site stayed fast and responsive, thanks to Cloudways’ built-in Cloudflare Enterprise CDN and caching features.
That said, the pricing may not be ideal for smaller businesses, especially if you need access to more advanced features. Still, Cloudways delivers a strong mix of performance, flexibility, and ease of use that’s hard to ignore.
Keep reading this Cloudways review to dive deeper into my test results and see if it’s the right choice for you.

We’ve developed a rating methodology to evaluate hosting providers based on key factors that matter most to users. This methodology helps ensure we provide an objective and transparent review of each brand we assess.
Our evaluation covers the most important aspects of a hosting provider, including Prices, Features, Ease of Use, Performance, Support, and Overall satisfaction.
Here’s the breakdown of Cloudways’ rating based on our methodology:
| Parameter | Score | Why We Gave This Score |
| Prices | 8.5 | Flexible, pay-as-you-go packages that are great for performance. Lacking entry-level options for smaller websites or projects. |
| Features | 9.0 | Built-in CDN, caching, performance optimizations, and a variety of external cloud providers to choose from. Advanced features require configuration. |
| Ease of Use | 9.5 | Highly intuitive, with simple steps for setting up and managing websites. User-friendly for beginners, while being flexible for developers. |
| Performance | 9.5 | Exceptional server performance, with fast loading times, good scalability, and low latency. Especially strong for WordPress. |
| Support | 9.4 | Fast, responsive support via live chat – the bot answers quickly, while the human agents are knowledgeable and professional. |
| Overall | 9.2 | Cloudways excels in performance, ease of use, and support. The pricing could be more competitive, but overall, it offers a robust and reliable hosting solution for businesses. |

Cloudways doesn’t offer a traditional money-back guarantee, but they do have a 3-day free trial. This allows you to test their services risk-free without entering your credit card details.
The free trial is available for most plans except for AWS. Personally, I think the free trial is a great way to try out their platform and get a feel for the features and performance before committing.
Cloudways offers a variety of payment methods, including credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) and PayPal, making it easy for users across the globe to sign up and get started.

There are also a variety of Cloudways add-ons, available at additional cost.

Ease of use is a key factor that can make or break the experience. So let’s see how Cloudways compares on controls, management, and overall UX.
First, head over to the Cloudways homepage and click “Start Free”. I was redirected to the signup page.

I found signup to be simple and intuitive, requiring all the basic and expected details in just a few clicks.

The choice to sign up using Github, LinkedIn, or Google is also a nice touch, allowing users to streamline the process if they’d prefer.
Once I’d completed registration, I was asked to choose an application and app provider. I went with DigitalOcean and WordPress, the best combination available here for beginners.

I was then required to select a server size, and I noticed that there’s plenty of room to scale – from 1GB to 192GB of RAM, depending on necessary performance.

After choosing your server location, you’re ready to go! The entire process took only a few minutes, and Cloudways made it easy to select a provider, specifications, and applications.

After selecting the server size and location, I clicked the Launch Now button at the bottom of the page to proceed.

Once my server was up and running on Cloudways, I was ready to set up my WordPress website. I simply clicked on the “Applications” tab, then clicked on “Add Application”.

Here, I had to choose the server I wanted to install WordPress on. If you have many servers, you’ll see all of them listed. You can also add a new server.

I then clicked the “Add Application” button, and on the next page, I selected WordPress from the list of applications and linked it to the server I had just created.

After a few clicks, Cloudways took care of the rest, and within minutes, my WordPress site was installed, and I could manage it from the Applications tab.

I could either copy the URL and paste it into my browser or click the small icon beside the admin URL to open it directly. The login process was straightforward, and I could start customizing my website immediately.
Managing my server was simple. I could access my server details by clicking the server name, which opened a detailed view where I could find my Master Credentials.

On the server management page, you’re able to view, edit, and manage credentials, monitoring, settings, and security details.

My overall experience while using Cloudways has been incredibly positive.
The sign-up process is quick and easy, creating a new WordPress website is seamless, and managing your server is straightforward, thanks to the clean and organized dashboard.

I wanted to test Cloudways’ performance, since they have such a positive reputation. I used GTMetrix to test overall performance and speed, and Uptime Robot to monitor how stable the site was over time.
Here’s my results breakdown.
I set up a fully functional WordPress website to simulate a real-world business site, and added content, images, videos, and installed some plugins. The performance results were truly impressive, with content loading almost instantly. The fully loaded time could be improved, though it’s still within an acceptable range.
The Time to First Byte (TTBF) and Total Blocking Time (TBT) both stand out to me as great results. And the quick load time ensures users aren’t left waiting and can engage with your content immediately.
Overall, the results demonstrated that Cloudways can deliver fast and responsive hosting solutions.

To give you a comprehensive picture of how Cloudways performs, over the course of several weeks, I carried out multiple tests on the same website to better understand how consistent and reliable Cloudways’ hosting service really is.
The performance score remained mostly 100% across multiple days, with the lowest score being 91%, showing that Cloudways consistently delivers high performance even with added content and media.

The LCP ranged from a low of 516ms to a high of 1492ms, with most results being well under 1 second, which is considered excellent for user experience.

The TBT was minimal on most days, indicating that the Cloudways website was highly responsive.

While the Fully Loaded Time wasn’t the fastest I’ve ever tested, it was well within an acceptable range – especially considering I added a number of plugins and a good amount of content.

TTFB was consistently under 150ms, showing fast server response times.

The tests conducted over the course of a few weeks confirm that Cloudways consistently performs well.
The 99% performance score, fast LCP, and quick TTFB reflect that the platform is highly reliable and responsive, making it an excellent option for websites requiring reliable, high-performance hosting.
To further assess Cloudways’ reliability, I decided to put their 99.99% uptime guarantee to the test. To do this, I used the Uptime Robot Monitoring tool to track the uptime of my website for an entire month.
The results speak for themselves. Cloudways exceeded the uptime promise with 100% uptime over the last 30 days.
Additionally, the response time remained within acceptable ranges, with an average of 287ms and a maximum of 707ms, meaning the server was consistently responsive and ready to handle requests without significant delays.

Cloudways offer 24/7 support via a number of channels, so I wanted to test some of these out. For the most part, I found their support to be streamlined and effective, with some room for improvement.
Good live chat support is essential for pretty much all online businesses, so I wanted to see how Cloudways’ agents could hold up.
Important note: You can only access Cloudways live chat when you’ve activated a server. This is also available during the free-trial period.

I was asked to clarify my query by the chatbot.
Almost immediately, I received a response from the chatbot – which was able to do a decent job of answering my query.

Although the information was clear, I wanted further clarification (and to test the human live chat support agents), so I asked to do so.
When I clicked “Get More Help”, I was connected to the human agent within a couple of seconds.

The agent was professional and friendly, and was able to acknowledge and address my question. He then also referred me to the Cloudways knowledge base, where I could learn more about the company policy I was questioning.
The Cloudways live chat was overall a decent experience, but while the response was clear, I was hoping for a bit more flexibility or perhaps alternative solutions to perform the tasks I needed.
The Cloudways Help Center holds hundreds of relevant, useful articles that are aimed at everyone – from beginner to pro website owners.

From managing your Cloudways account, to troubleshooting specific applications, if you’ve got an issue that may be easier to solve for yourself, this is a good place to start.
Overall, my experience with Cloudways’ live support was quite positive.
The live chat bot provided a swift initial response, and this saved me time as I didn’t need to wait for a human agent to start troubleshooting a basic issue.
When I needed further clarification, I was quickly connected to Faraz, who was polite, professional, and understanding of my concerns. He not only addressed my question directly but also offered a relevant Knowledge Base article for a deeper understanding of Cloudways’ policies.

Now I’ve put Cloudways through its paces, how did it do? Honestly, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for high-performance reseller cloud hosting.
With in-built scalability and beginner-friendly controls, and a solid range of features, what really makes Cloudways stand out are the quality partners and providers they work with. It’s easy to get started, and the user dashboard is straightforward for beginners without sacrificing the flexibility that developers might need.
Pricing might be a bit steep for smaller businesses or projects, but if you’re looking for performance, reliability, and ease of use, there aren’t many better cloud hosting resellers than Cloudways.
